"The loss of Michael Jackson profoundly saddened all of us who had the honor of working with him over the years. We at USA for Africa and the many programs we funded were particularly blessed to be the beneficiary of his extraordinary talent as he joined with Lionel Richie to create one of the greatest humanitarian anthems ever written. "We Are The World" not only raised tens of millions of dollars for relief, recovery and development in Africa but inspired and helped to educate people all over the world to the issues of hunger and homelessness and the abject poverty that is so much a part of that equation. As part of Michael's legacy those efforts will continue for years and years to come."
